Juice Fasting: Is it Effective for Colon Detoxification?

If you are in search of an effective detoxification method, juice fasting has proven itself as a fast and safe way to get rid of unnecessary and ailing toxins inside your body. Thankfully, a juice fast detox diet is a great way to help you shed unnecessary weight, reduce your cholesterol levels, treat chemical imbalances, and even aid in treating acne and severe allergies.

How Does Juice Fasting Work

When you undergo a juice fast, you are in short giving your body a rest from food and your digestive system a break from working overtime to digest that food. During this time of fasting, your immune system can now work towards eliminating harmful toxins along with the help of your kidneys, liver, intestines, pancreas, and gall bladder.

What to Expect on a Juice Fast

Most juice fasts last a period of 3 days to one full week. During this time, your body will begin to not only burn fat, but also begin digesting its own tissues through a process referred to as “autolysis.”

During “autolysis,” your body begins to break down, decompose, and then burn cells in your body that are dead, diseased, aged, or damaged. In particular, these can be cells such as excess fat deposits, morbid cells, tumors, and even abscesses. In addition, you will notice your stomach shrinking during your juice fast. This is due in part to the fact that it is becoming less acidic and unnecessary waste and toxins are being removed.

Symptoms & Side Effects to Expect During Juice Fasting

During your juice fast, be prepared to experience side effects such as:

  • Sudden (but not prolonged) acne breakouts
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Loose stools
  • It is important to note that you should not be alarmed during this time. These symptoms are only temporary and will eventually go away on their own, leaving you feeling renewed and much more energized.

Types of Juices to Consume on a Juice Fast
When juice fasting, your juice mix can be a combination of almost any veggies and fruits that can be consumed raw. For example, cucumbers, carrots, celery, and tomatoes are great vegetables for juicing.

Other combination that go well together include carrot juice mixed with apples, or blending together a combination of tomatoes, celery, and apples.

Whatever mixture you decide on, it is important that you remember to dilute your juice mixture with at least 50% water and 50% juice mixture. Where possible, ensure that you are using distilled water instead of water from the tap.
